Manually renew my products or services

Here’s how to manually renew your products at any time, even if they’re set to auto-renew.

Products auto-renew for the same length of time as their most recent manual renewal, as opposed to their original registration length. This also applies to domains that are manually renewed after July 16, 2020. For example, if a domain is manually renewed after July 16, 2020 for a 3-year term, it will auto-renew for the same 3-year term when the time comes. For full details, see our

Domain Name Registration Agreement.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy Renewals & Billing page. If you’re not already, you’ll be prompted to log in.
  2. Check the box to select the products you want to renew, and then click Add to Cart.
  3. Complete your purchase.

Turn on auto-renew

To make sure your products renew and you don’t accidentally lose any important files, you can set them up to auto-renew on their expiration dates.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy Renewals & Billing page. You might be prompted to log in.
  2. Select the product or products you want to auto-renew.

Note: If you’d like to check the price before you turn auto-renew on, click Add to Cart.

We’ll show you the price for your products in the Shopping Cart, but we won’t complete that purchase here unless you say so. To continue with turning on auto-renew, click your browser’s Back button.

  • Click Auto-Renew On. In the Billing Date list, the auto-renewal date appears next to the product name.

Turn off auto-renew

Follow these steps to cancel auto-renew for a product. This won’t cancel or delete the product from your account, but it makes sure it doesn’t auto-renew. Of course, you can manually renew the product whenever you like.

Required: Sorry, you can’t cancel auto-renew for domains that are have Ownership Protection. For these domains, you must downgrade your protection plan before following these steps.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy Renewals & Billing page.
  2. Check the box to select the product or domain you want to turn off auto-renew.
  3. Click Cancel Renewal.
  4. A new window will appear. Click Cancel Renewal and we’ll confirm that automatic renewal has been cancelled. In the Billing Date column, you’ll see the date that your product subscription ends. You can keep using the product until the end of your subscription.

Downgrade my domain protection plan

You can downgrade your domain protection plan at any time. Downgrading to Basic Privacy Protection will remove the additional features of Full Protection, including the private email address, and your contact information in the GoDaddy WHOIS directory will no longer be substituted with proxy information. It will also remove the protection from malicious takeover attempts and failed renewals. When you downgrade from the Ultimate Protection plan, the Website Security Basic service associated with that domain name will also be removed.

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center.
  2. Check the box next to the domain(s) you’ll be downgrading. Or, select the check mark icon and Select All.
  3. Select Ownership then Downgrade Privacy Protection.
  4. Review the downgrade options available and choose your preferred plan.
  5. Select Confirm.
  6. Verify your identity. If you have two-step verification (2SV) enabled, we’ll send the verification code via SMS or an authenticator app. Or, you can use the one-time password option, if you don’t have 2SV enabled.
  7. Enter your verification code and select Verify.

You’ll see a Success confirmation once your changes have been accepted. It can take up to 90 minutes for these changes to take effect.
